Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar highlighted the growing trend of “demonising constitutional institutions” and “sermonising people,” warning that this approach could lead to disorder. Speaking at an educational event, Dhankhar expressed concern that criticism of foundational institutions was becoming common, urging that it was time to “bid adieu” to such practices. He cautioned that even those with constitutional authority in politics are engaging in this trend, which could destabilize the democratic framework.
The Vice President also called for the “elites” of society to embody a spirit of nationalism, urging them to use their influence constructively. Without naming individuals, he appealed to elites to support the nation meaningfully and responsibly.
Dhankhar also underscored the critical role of alumni in bolstering educational institutions. He encouraged active alumni participation, advocating for alumni funds as a vital resource for the advancement of educational ecosystems. He cited examples of successful institutions globally that thrive on alumni support. Additionally, he urged industries, businesses, and trade organizations to contribute financially to research and innovation, emphasizing that such contributions could fuel progress and creativity in academia.
