Woman Skips Restaurant Queue By Ordering Dosas On Zomato
In a clever twist to avoid long queues at one of Bengaluru’s most popular restaurants, a woman recently shared her creative way of enjoying a meal at the Central Tiffin Room (CTR) without waiting. The idea? Skip the line altogether and have dosas delivered to her car via Zomato, all while staying close to the restaurant. The post quickly gained attention on social media, highlighting the growing trend of using online food delivery to bypass waiting times at crowded eateries.
The user, known as @artbyahbuna on X, was in a rush and had plans to catch a movie but still wanted to eat at CTR, which is known for its long wait times. Instead of joining the line for a table, she placed an order on Zomato, choosing the street right outside the restaurant as her delivery address. In just 25 minutes, her dosas were delivered, cutting down the expected 40-minute wait for a table. The delivery person, surprised by the delivery route, even greeted her with a cheerful “Merry Christmas.”
The woman then posted about the experience, explaining how she peacefully ate her dosas in her car and made it to her movie on time. The post quickly went viral, accumulating over 103K views, with many users applauding the innovative approach to skipping restaurant queues.
However, the convenience of online delivery did come with its drawbacks. In a follow-up post, the user mentioned missing the full restaurant experience. The delivery came with only one chutney instead of two, and there was no cutlery provided. Despite these small inconveniences, the woman said the time-saving benefit outweighed the drawbacks.
Several users on social media shared their reactions to the idea, with some chiming in that they had been doing something similar for years. One user remarked, “What an idea sir ji,” while another said, “When you use 100% of your brains.” Some even shared their own experiences of avoiding long queues by taking takeaway orders, with one user commenting, “Been doing this since COVID times. The takeaway line is shorter; we take it and eat in the bylanes of Malleshwaram.”
This trend of using online food delivery to skip queues reflects a shift in how people approach dining out, especially at popular spots where waiting times can be daunting. While this approach may not replace the full restaurant experience, it certainly offers a time-efficient solution for those on tight schedules.
