Melbourne, December 19: Indian cricket star Virat Kohli had a heated confrontation with an Australian journalist at Melbourne airport after the journalist clicked photos of his wife, Anushka Sharma, and their children. Kohli, who was traveling with his family ahead of the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, was visibly upset by the intrusion into his family’s privacy.
The incident occurred when Kohli arrived in Melbourne with his wife and children on Thursday. According to local media, a female journalist from Channel 7 filmed the family, which angered the cricketer. Kohli approached the journalist, requesting to see the pictures and videos taken. He then demanded the journalist delete any footage or images of his family, while allowing her to retain those of him alone.
Kohli expressed his frustration with the lack of privacy, saying, “With my kids, I need some privacy. You can’t film without asking me.” However, Australian law does not restrict the photographing or filming of celebrities in public spaces, which added complexity to the situation.
Kohli and his family had traveled separately from the rest of the Indian team, with the cricketer accompanying his family to Melbourne ahead of the fourth Test, which begins on December 26. Kohli has faced criticism for his form in the ongoing Test series, but he will be hoping to return to his best during the Melbourne match.
