“Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Criticizes Rising Trend of Students Going Abroad, Calls It a ‘Disease'”
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, on Saturday, expressed concern over the growing trend of students seeking education abroad, calling it a “new disease” affecting the youth of the country. He referred to this phenomenon as both a “forex drain” and “brain drain,” emphasizing that the increasing commercialization of education is impacting its quality, which poses a threat to the nation’s future.
Speaking at an event organized by a private educational institution in Sikar, Rajasthan, Dhankhar said, “There is a new disease among children – the desire to go abroad. They are eager to go overseas, dreaming of better opportunities, but there is no proper evaluation of the institutions they are enrolling in or the countries they are heading to.”
The Vice President highlighted a worrying statistic, stating, “It is estimated that around 13 lakh students will go abroad for education in 2024. Now, people are beginning to question the impact on their future and realizing how much brighter their prospects could have been if they had pursued their education here in India
