UP Crime : Tragic Death of Lineman in Kanpur appeared when a lineman tragically lost his life in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, after a power line unexpectedly re-energized while he was working on it. Manoj, a contract worker, was performing repairs when he was electrocuted, leading to a horrifying incident that was captured on video. The footage showed him screaming in agony as his body caught fire and adhered to the pole, before ultimately falling to the ground, shocking his colleagues.
In the wake of this incident, Manoj’s family, along with residents of Rajpur in Sikandra tehsil, took to the streets, blocking roads to demand justice. They accused the electricity department of “gross negligence,” stating that Manoj had climbed the pole following a power shutdown, only to discover that the line was still live.

According to allegations made by Manoj’s wife, he had a disagreement with the Junior Engineer (JE) just days prior to the accident. She claimed that despite ensuring the line was shut down, the JE had restarted it, directly leading to her husband’s tragic death.
In response to the incident, Manoj’s family is seeking not only justice but also significant compensation, including a government job for a relative and ₹50 lakh (approximately $60,000).
Charge against the Junior Engineer , Sub Divisional Officer and Executive Engineer
Tensions escalated until police intervened, facilitating a resolution. Subsequently, the police filed a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the Executive Engineer (XEN), the Sub Divisional Officer, and the Junior Engineer involved in the incident.
