Uddhav Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Nagpur on Tuesday for the first time since his party’s defeat in the recent Assembly elections. Despite his party’s ongoing questions about the credibility of EVMs, Thackeray congratulated Fadnavis on the victory of the ruling coalition.
Aaditya Thackeray, Uddhav’s son, who accompanied him to the meeting, described the move as a step towards political maturity and cooperation for Maharashtra’s interests. He emphasized that although Shiv Sena is now in the opposition, both sides should work together for the state’s progress.

The meeting, held at Fadnavis’ Vidhan Bhavan office during the ongoing winter session, was primarily a courtesy visit. Thackeray’s political journey has seen ups and downs, from being a BJP ally until 2019 to leading a coalition government with the NCP and Congress, before his government collapsed in 2022. Despite past conflicts, including over the interpretation of Hindutva, this meeting signals a potential thaw in relations.
