A nine-year-old girl is fighting for her life after her tuition teacher allegedly slapped her twice, resulting in a serious brain injury. The incident occurred in Nallasopara, a town located about 58 kilometers from Mumbai, on October 5. The victim, identified as Deepika, was admitted to the hospital a week later due to health complications that arose after the incident.
According to police reports, the 20-year-old teacher, Ratna Singh, struck the girl as punishment for being disruptive in class. The force of the slaps was so intense that Deepika’s earring became embedded in her cheek.
Currently, the young girl is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at KJ Somaiya Hospital in Mumbai. She is suffering from severe brain injury, jaw stiffness, significant damage to her windpipe, and a tetanus infection. Deepika has been on a ventilator for the past nine days, and her condition remains critical, as confirmed by medical officials.
