In a tragic turn of events in a village near Khandwa, a 19-year-old Dalit woman has lost her life after being set on fire by Mangilal’s son, Arjun. Just days after she bravely filed a harassment complaint against 40-year-old Mangilal, who was arrested but released on bail on October 8, the victim faced grave threats from his family.
On Friday, as the sun set, Arjun allegedly came to her home with malicious intent. In a horrifying act, he poured petrol on her and set her ablaze. Despite her desperate struggle to escape the flames, she suffered 27% burns and was rushed to a district hospital before being transferred to a facility in Indore. Sadly, despite the efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries.
In the aftermath, Arjun has been arrested and charged with attempted murder. Khandwa Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Rai has assured a thorough investigation into this heinous act. However, a disturbing statement from BJP leader Mukesh Tanvi suggested that the young woman may have taken her own life out of fear, sparking outrage. Authorities are treating this as a criminal case.
