Terrorists Behind J&K Village Guards' Killing Cornered
J&K: An intense encounter is currently taking place in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces have cornered a group of terrorists responsible for the killing of two village defence guards two days ago. According to police, around four terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. The gunfight has been ongoing, with heavy exchanges of fire. In the process, an army officer and a soldier have sustained injuries.
The terrorists are suspected to have kidnapped the two village guards from Adhwari, a remote area in Kishtwar, and shot them dead on Thursday. Following the killings, security forces launched a counter-operation to track down the perpetrators. Kishtwar police confirmed that the same group of terrorists has now been cornered in the Keshwan area, where the encounter is taking place.
“This is the same group that killed the two innocent villagers,” police said, confirming the identity of the attackers. Authorities believe that the terrorists are using the dense terrain of the area to resist capture, making it a challenging operation for security forces.
This encounter marks the third such operation in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours. Earlier in the day, another exchange of fire took place in the Zabarwan forest area of Srinagar, where a joint operation by the police and security forces targeted a group of terrorists based on specific intelligence regarding their presence. The ongoing operations reflect the heightened security measures in the region following recent attacks on security personnel and civilians.
As the encounter continues, the situation in Kishtwar remains tense, with security forces working to neutralize the trapped militants.
