Kerela: As the November 13 bypoll in Wayanad approaches, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is actively campaigning for his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is contesting the election. During his visit to Wayanad’s Sultan Bathery, Rahul Gandhi playfully challenged his “little sister” to elevate Wayanad into a top tourist destination.
Rahul, who previously represented Wayanad in the Lok Sabha, vacated the seat after winning both the Wayanad and Rae Bareli constituencies in the 2019 general election. This created the opportunity for Priyanka Gandhi to contest the seat in the upcoming bypoll. The Congress candidate will face competition from Sathyan Mokeri of the Left Front and BJP’s Navya Haridas.
Speaking at a public rally, Rahul expressed his deep affection for Wayanad, emphasizing that the constituency holds a special place in his heart beyond politics. He also spoke about his commitment to the people of Wayanad, saying, “Wayanad owns a huge place in my heart, and I’m here to help everyone whenever they need it. If I can showcase its beauty to the world, I would be happy to do so.”
Rahul then turned the spotlight on his sister, issuing a light-hearted challenge: “I would also like to challenge my sister to make Wayanad the best tourist destination. When people think of Kerala, Wayanad should be the first place that comes to mind. This will not only benefit the local economy but also help the world discover Wayanad’s natural beauty,” he added.
