Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll on Wednesday, marking her electoral debut with a massive roadshow. Addressing the public before filing her nomination, Priyanka reflected on her 35 years of political experience, which began at the age of 17 when she campaigned for her late father, Rajiv Gandhi, in 1989.
Priyanka, who arrived in Wayanad with her mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi, led a grand roadshow in Kalpetta, where thousands of supporters greeted her with placards, balloons, and drum beats. She shared her long history of campaigning for her family members and party colleagues but noted that this was the first time she was campaigning for herself.
Her remarks came a day after BJP’s Wayanad bypoll candidate Navya Haridas claimed that she had more experience in representing people than Priyanka.
