In a sharp counter to the BJP’s recent attacks, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal dismissed their allegations, emphasizing that the BJP lacks both a clear agenda and a Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Kejriwal accused the BJP of focusing solely on targeting him personally, stating, “The BJP neither has an agenda nor a Chief Minister face for this election. BJP knows only one thing: how to abuse Kejriwal.”
The BJP, in turn, launched a “aarop patra” (chargesheet) accusing the AAP government of various failures, with BJP MP Anurag Thakur leading the charge. Thakur criticized the AAP government for its promises, saying, “They (AAP) said free water for all, but today people pay thousands to tankers. They said they would make Delhi pollution-free, but look at the AQI.” Thakur also attacked the government on corruption, referencing ministers who were jailed, and highlighted pollution in the Yamuna, especially during the Chhath festival, accusing Kejriwal’s government of failing to address these issues despite earlier promises.
On women’s safety, the BJP slammed AAP for not utilizing the Nirbhaya Fund and not setting up promised fast-track courts. Thakur also raised concerns over law enforcement, urging the Delhi government to take responsibility for increasing crime, given that all seven Delhi MPs are from the BJP.
Kejriwal countered these criticisms by reminding the BJP that law enforcement in Delhi falls under the Union Home Ministry’s jurisdiction and questioned why the BJP MPs hadn’t addressed the issue. He added, “It’s deteriorating day by day.”
In response to the BJP’s charges, AAP MP Sanjay Singh branded the BJP’s politics as based on lies, emphasizing that Delhi’s citizens are well aware of the reality.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal, along with Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, launched doorstep registration for the Mahila Samman Yojana and the Sanjivani medical insurance scheme. Kejriwal outlined that the Mahila Samman Yojana would provide ₹2,100 every month to registered women, and the Sanjivani Yojana would cover medical treatment costs for senior citizens above 60.
