The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Anmol Bishnoi is wanted for his alleged role in a shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai, which took place in April this year. The NIA has now added him to its ‘Most Wanted’ list.
Anmol, also known by the alias “Bhanu,” is believed to be currently residing in Canada, with frequent travels to the United States. The bounty on him was initially declared last month by officials.
Reports suggest that Anmol Bishnoi is also suspected to be involved in the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique on October 12 in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Recently, a Mumbai court denied bail to one of the two accused in the Salman Khan shooting case, stating that the accused acted with “intent or knowledge” to harm the actor, allegedly under Anmol Bishnoi’s influence.
Both Anmol and Lawrence Bishnoi, originally from Fazilka in Punjab, are wanted in the case. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently held in Gujarat’s Sabarmati jail. A lookout circular against Anmol Bishnoi was issued in April after he reportedly claimed responsibility for the firing incident at Khan’s residence.
In August 2022, an FIR was filed by the NIA against nine individuals, including the Bishnoi brothers, for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy to “raise funds, recruit youth for terrorist activities in Delhi and other parts of India,” and for “targeted killings of prominent individuals.”
