Jharkhand Election:Voting for the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections kicked off on Wednesday, with polls taking place in 43 out of the state’s 81 constituencies. Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni, a native of Ranchi, exercised his right to vote at a polling booth in the city, accompanied by his wife, Sakshi.
As of 3 p.m., the Election Commission of India reported a voter turnout of 59.28 percent across the constituencies in the first phase. Seraikella-Kharsawan recorded the highest turnout at 66.38 percent, followed by Lohardaga at 65.99 percent and Simdega at 64.31 percent.
In contrast, the state capital Ranchi witnessed the lowest voter participation, with a turnout of 53.40 percent. Other districts saw varying participation rates, with Palamu recording 56.57 percent, Ramgarh at 59.22 percent, Khunti at 63.35 percent, and Gumla at 64.59 percent. West Singhbhum, Latehar, Garhwa, East Singhbhum, and Hazaribagh reported turnouts between 57.16 percent and 62.81 percent.
The first phase of voting is crucial as it covers key districts that will play a significant role in determining the composition of the new Jharkhand Assembly.
