Man Throws Liquid On Arvind Kejriwal
On November 30, 2024, during a padyatra in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, a man threw liquid—reportedly water—on Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi. The attacker, identified as Ashok Jha, was immediately detained by security personnel and supporters of Kejriwal, who also reportedly beat him. Kejriwal, while assessing the situation, appeared to remain calm.
The incident has sparked political controversy, with AAP accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the attack. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that law and order in Delhi had broken down under BJP rule and criticized the central government for failing to act. In response, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor dismissed the allegations, suggesting that Kejriwal was using the incident to gain political leverage ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Kapoor claimed that Kejriwal’s tactics were aimed at garnering sympathy.
The AAP also questioned the safety of public figures in Delhi, arguing that if a former Chief Minister is not safe, the general public is at risk as well. The Delhi Police are investigating the matter, and Kejriwal’s supporters continue to call attention to what they view as deteriorating law and order under BJP governance.
