Man Providing Free Nimbu Paani For Runners Wins Hearts
In the bustling streets of South Mumbai, there is a man who has quietly been making a big difference in the lives of many runners. For over a decade, Rajesh Shah, a resident of Peddar Road, has been providing homemade nimbu paani (lemon water) to runners participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon. His simple yet thoughtful gesture has won the hearts of countless athletes, and recently, his efforts were celebrated on social media when the Tata Mumbai Marathon shared a video about him. The reel went viral, receiving widespread attention.
The video begins with vlogger Piyush Gadda introducing a “mystery man” who has been helping runners on Peddar Road by offering free nimbu paani. Piyush explains that this drink is incredibly refreshing and seems to eliminate fatigue. However, he is unaware of the man’s identity and encourages viewers to share any information about him in the comments. The video quickly caught the public’s attention, with many eager to know more.
Soon, the organizers of the Tata Mumbai Marathon tracked down the generous soul behind this initiative, and Rajesh Shah was revealed as the person responsible. He is now fondly referred to as “Peddar Road Ka Nimbu Pani Hero.” In the video, Rajesh shares how this simple yet impactful initiative started and evolved over the years.
He explains that while it was his idea, it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of others. Rajesh first realized that Peddar Road, being a midway point on the marathon route (which begins at Nariman Point), was a perfect place to provide water for himself during his runs. Over time, he began placing bottles of nimbu paani for his fellow runners as well.
Rajesh credits his friend Sanjay for making the nimbu paani from scratch at home. Sanjay prepares the drink, which is then bottled and refrigerated before being taken out for the runners. They coordinate to ensure that enough bottles are available to meet the demand. Rajesh even wakes up early, around 5:15 am, to place the bottles out for early runners before he starts his own run. He feels a sense of responsibility, as runners have come to expect this refreshing treat along their route.
Rajesh Shah’s efforts, though simple, have become a beacon of kindness and camaraderie in the marathon community. His selfless act continues to inspire people, not only in Mumbai but around the world, showing how one small gesture can make a big difference.
“Peddar Road Ka Nimbu Pani Hero” is a true example of community spirit, proving that sometimes, the most meaningful contributions come from the heart.
