Steve Jobs' Wife Falls Ill At Maha Kumbh
Laurene Powell Jobs, the wife of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, fell ill during her visit to the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, after developing allergies on her second day at the event. Despite her discomfort, she is determined to participate in the ritual of taking a dip in the sacred Ganga river.
Swami Kailashanand Giri, a spiritual leader, shared that Laurene is currently resting in his ‘shivir’ after the allergies. He mentioned, “She has never been to such a crowded place. She is quite simple and stayed with us during the pooja. Our tradition is such that those who have never seen it – they all want to join.”
Laurene Powell Jobs arrived in Prayagraj on Monday to attend the Maha Kumbh, a rare celestial event that occurs once in 144 years. Before coming to Prayagraj, she visited the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. During her time at the Kumbh, she will stay at the Niranjani Akhara camp in the Kumbh tent city until January 15, before heading back to the United States to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
The Maha Kumbh, one of the largest religious congregations in the world, is held every 12 years in India. This year’s Poorna Kumbh event will continue until February 26. Key dates for the sacred dips include January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
