A hand grenade was discovered this morning at the entrance of Ghanapriya Women’s College in Imphal, just under 200 meters from the Governor’s residence. Local residents spotted the grenade around 6 a.m. and alerted authorities. A police team quickly arrived at the scene, followed by a bomb-disposal squad that successfully defused the device, noting that the grenade pin appeared to resemble a booby trap.
Alongside the grenade, a note was found with a message that read, “Down with the fascist education system, honor the rights of proletarian students’ free education movement, glory to the proletarian students.” No group has yet taken responsibility for placing the grenade. A case has been registered at the Imphal police station, and investigations are underway.
