Two commandos from the CoBRA unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) explosion in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, during an anti-Maoist operation on Thursday morning. The incident occurred when personnel from the 229th CRPF battalion and the 206th CoBRA battalion were conducting operations and accidentally triggered the IED. The injured commandos, Mridul Barman and Mohd Ishaq, were initially treated at the Basaguda CRPF camp and later transferred to Raipur for advanced medical care. Fortunately, their condition is stable and they are reported to be out of danger.
This attack is part of a series of similar incidents in the region. Earlier this month, on January 12, a 10-year-old girl and two policemen were injured in Bijapur due to a pressure IED blast. The day before, a CRPF jawan was also injured in an explosion in the same district. The violence linked to Maoist insurgents continued earlier this year, with the death of a villager and injuries to three others on January 10 due to IED blasts in Narayanpur. Additionally, on January 6, a major attack resulted in the deaths of eight police personnel and their driver when an IED was detonated in Bijapur.
