Gurgaon : As the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Gurugram remains in the “very poor” category, Gurugram society Tackles Pollution with ‘Artificial Rain’. Residents of a housing complex in Sector 82, DLF Primus, have taken matters into their own hands to combat air pollution. The complex has introduced a novel approach to reduce dust and particulate matter—using “artificial rain” created by sprinklers and water pipes originally intended for firefighting.

A video from Thursday shows water cascading down from the complex’s 32-storey towers, designed to help mitigate the harmful effects of pollution. Achal Yadav, president of the Resident Welfare Association (RWA), explained that this initiative was launched to safeguard the health of residents, emphasizing that pollution cannot be tackled by the government alone.
“We are using fire lines to generate artificial rain to control dust and particles, which pose a particular risk to children and seniors,” Yadav told ANI. “Depending on the AQI, we’ll continue this effort daily if necessary.”
In addition to the artificial rain, the complex has introduced a carpool service for residents traveling to areas like Cyber City and Delhi, with other local complexes also joining in. Yadav stressed that pollution is a collective problem, requiring a collective solution.
