CCTV footage revealed the horrifying sequence of events that unfolded on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Friday morning. Minutes after a gas tanker collided with multiple vehicles, thick black smoke began to fill the street, followed by a devastating blast. The fire, which has claimed at least 8 lives, caused a massive inferno, with flames visible from nearly a kilometre away. A nearly 300-meter-long stretch of the highway was severely affected, leading to a long traffic jam.
Ambulances and fire department vehicles were quickly dispatched to the scene, as the fire damaged at least 30 vehicles. Efforts are still underway to determine the full extent of the damage, including the details of passengers aboard a bus that was behind the tanker when the accident occurred. The fire has also caused significant damage to nearby establishments along the highway.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar visited SMS Hospital, where more than 40 injured individuals are being treated. Khimsar informed the media that about half of the injured are in critical condition. In response to the emergency, a “green corridor” has been set up from the accident site to the hospital to facilitate the swift transportation of the injured.
The tragic incident has left the region in shock, and authorities are continuing their efforts to manage the aftermath.
