In a shocking incident from Bihar, a Dalit man was brutally assaulted and subjected to casteist abuse by a poultry farm owner and his son after he requested his overdue wages. The victim, Rinku Manjhi, a daily wage laborer, alleged that his employer, Ramesh Patel, along with two accomplices, not only physically assaulted him but also spat on him, with one of them reportedly urinating on him. The police are currently investigating these serious allegations.
On October 4, Manjhi, who had been working for Patel in Chaupar Madan village in Muzaffarpur for several days, approached his employer to ask for his wages. This seemingly simple request ignited Patel’s anger, leading him to retaliate violently against Manjhi.
A video captured on a cellphone shows the harrowing scene, where two men can be seen forcing Manjhi to the ground and beating him alongside a road. Following the assault, Patel and his accomplices threatened Manjhi with death if he dared to report the incident to the authorities.
This incident highlights the ongoing issues of caste-based violence and discrimination faced by Dalits in India, shedding light on the urgent need for systemic change and greater protection for marginalized communities.
