Customer Finds Live Worm in Zomato Meal
A viral video has sparked outrage on social media after a Bengaluru man discovered a live worm inside his meal, which was ordered from a popular cloud kitchen on Zomato. The incident, which was shared on Instagram by the user @fitnesskapratik, has raised serious concerns about food hygiene and safety standards in the growing online food delivery industry.
The video shows the man pointing to a live worm crawling inside a salad bowl. He claims that he had ordered from Fresh Menu, a cloud kitchen listed on Zomato. The man also pointed out that he had ordered four items but received only three, one of which had the disturbing surprise. In the video, he states, “After seeing this, I don’t want to open the other two.” He urges Zomato to investigate the issue and ensure food safety.
The video quickly gained traction, with many people expressing concern about the rising number of unhygienic incidents reported in online food orders. The man shared his experience along with the hashtags #fitness, #healthyfood, #fssaiindia, and #zomato, urging others to carefully check their food before consuming it, especially if they have no choice but to order from outside.
“After a long time, I decided to have something from outside, and this happened. Please, guys, try to avoid outside food, and if you have no other option, then please check the food properly before eating,” he wrote while sharing the video.
Cloud Kitchen’s Apology
Fresh Menu, the cloud kitchen responsible for the meal, quickly responded to the incident with an apology. In a statement, the company expressed its regret over the occurrence, calling it “absolutely unacceptable.” The company assured the customer, Pratik, that immediate action was being taken. Fresh Menu representatives visited the customer in person to apologize directly and to understand the concerns.
