The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recently filed a First Information Report (FIR) in Indore and Bhopal, accusing certain individuals of attempting to mislead party officials during its membership drive in Madhya Pradesh. The party, which claims to have surpassed the 1.5 crore membership mark in the state, has come under scrutiny after allegations of data manipulation surfaced.
According to the BJP, the party now boasts 1,50,28,107 members, with an average of 232 members at each polling booth across Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised the drive, which places the state second only to Uttar Pradesh in terms of BJP membership numbers.
However, the Congress party has raised concerns about the authenticity of these figures. Senior Congress leaders, including former ministers Lakhan Ghanghoria and Vinay Saxena, have claimed that they were falsely enrolled as BJP members. Ghanghoria, a sitting Congress MLA, expressed shock over the inclusion of prominent Congress members in the BJP’s records, calling it a deceptive tactic to inflate membership numbers.
Vinay Saxena, a former Congress MLA, also voiced similar concerns, saying he received a message welcoming him to the BJP, despite never joining the party. He labeled the move fraudulent and accused the BJP of manipulating data to artificially boost its membership.
As the controversy unfolds, questions about the legitimacy of the BJP’s massive membership claims continue to stir debate in the political landscape of Madhya Pradesh .
