A boat carrying 58 people capsized in the Ganga river in Varanasi on Friday after colliding with another boat near the Man Mandir Ghat, as a large number of devotees gathered for the ongoing Maha Kumbh. Fortunately, all passengers were rescued, and there were no fatalities reported, although two individuals sustained minor injuries.
Rescue operation
The incident occurred when a larger boat with 58 people on board collided with a smaller boat carrying six people. The collision caused the smaller boat to capsize, sending its passengers into the river. NDRF personnel, who were stationed in the area, quickly carried out the rescue operation, ensuring all individuals were safely brought to shore.
NDRF team was immediately on-site to manage the situation
According to Additional SP S Chinnapa, the passengers of the smaller boat were promptly rescued following the accident. DCP of Kashi Zone, Gaurav Banswal, confirmed that all 58 people on the larger boat were also rescued, with no further injuries reported. The NDRF team was immediately on-site to manage the situation.
