The Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch will revisit the statements of Baba Siddique’s security personnel as part of their ongoing investigation into his murder. Just a week after the former Maharashtra minister’s tragic death, authorities are scrutinizing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Baba Siddique was assigned ‘2+1’ security, which comprised two guards during the day and one at night. On October 12, Mr. Siddique was fatally shot outside his son MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East. Although he arrived at the location with two security guards, one of them left shortly before he departed the office around 8:30 pm. As a result, Mr. Siddique was left with only one security guard at the time of the attack, who, according to sources, did not respond during the shooting.
The assassination occurred around 9:30 pm, coinciding with a Dussehra procession and fireworks, which may have provided cover for the assailants. The Crime Branch is now focusing on understanding the security lapses that led to this tragic event.
