Akhilesh Yadav Slams BJP
During the debate on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav fiercely criticized the BJP, accusing them of undermining the Constitution and sowing divisions in the country.
Those looking for temples under mosques don’t want peace
He made a pointed reference to the violence that erupted in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, last month, following a survey of a mosque. The violence, which resulted in several deaths, he claimed, was a direct consequence of the BJP’s efforts to inflame religious tensions. “Those looking for temples under mosques don’t want peace,” he said, condemning such divisive actions.
Yadav also accused the ruling government of not respecting the Indian voter, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, where he alleged that people were prevented from voting in the Lok Sabha elections by police interference. He further stated that the BJP’s actions and policies threatened the unity and integrity of the nation. Referring to the Constitution, he called it the “soul of democracy” and stressed that it has kept India secure and united.
Muslims were being made to feel like second-class citizens
The SP leader raised concerns about national security, questioning the government’s handling of borders, particularly regarding alleged Chinese transgressions. He also expressed concerns about the state of the economy and the internal safety of citizens. One of his key points was the marginalization of India’s 20 crore minorities, especially Muslims, whom he claimed were being made to feel like second-class citizens.
Promise to bridge the gap between Caste
In addition, Yadav strongly advocated for a caste census, stating it was essential to address the disparities among various castes. He promised that whenever his party had the opportunity, they would conduct the caste census, which he believed would help bridge the gap and create more inclusive policies for all.
