AAP Says Will Ask INDIA Bloc To Remove Congress From Alliance
The ongoing political conflict between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress escalated after the Delhi Congress released a 12-point “white paper” criticizing both AAP and the BJP over issues like pollution, civic facilities, and law and order.
The AAP, in retaliation, accused Congress of working in alliance with the BJP to benefit the latter in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Atishi and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, specifically targeted Congress leader Ajay Maken, alleging that his statements were made in alignment with the BJP’s agenda.
Sanjay Singh went further, demanding that Congress take action against Maken within 24 hours, or AAP would seek his removal from the INDIA alliance. Singh also recalled that AAP had extended support to Congress in past elections, including in the Lok Sabha elections, but felt betrayed by Maken’s remarks, which he claimed were damaging to AAP and its leadership, particularly Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
On the other hand, Ajay Maken, in his “white paper,” accused Kejriwal of being a fraud (“Farziwal”) and failing to fulfill promises made during AAP’s rise to power, such as establishing a Janlokpal in Delhi. This further heightened tensions between the two parties.
The conflict illustrates the deepening rift between AAP and Congress in the run-up to the crucial Delhi Assembly elections, where both parties are competing for control of the capital.
