A 21-year-old man tragically lost his life after a speeding Mercedes collided with his two-wheeler in Thane, near Mumbai, late last night. The driver fled the scene, and the luxury car was later discovered in a paid parking lot. Authorities have registered a case and are actively working to identify the suspect.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Mercedes was being closely followed by a Thar SUV, both vehicles being driven recklessly towards Mumbai when the accident occurred. Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Salvi stated that the victim, Darshan Hegde, was crossing the Nitin Company Junction around 1:50 am when the high-speed Mercedes hit his bike, resulting in his death.
The case has been registered at the Nuapada police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash driving and causing death due to negligence, as well as applicable sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage and RTO records to identify the driver responsible.
