Delhi : A 12-year-old student, Prince, died under suspicious circumstances at a private school in south-west Delhi on Tuesday morning. Prince, a class six student from Kudumpur Pahari in Vasant Vihar, was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead upon arrival.
While the police suspect that Prince may have died due to a seizure, his family has raised concerns about foul play. The family claims that Prince was beaten by a classmate before the incident. According to the police, there were no visible injuries on the boy’s body, but foam-like substance was found oozing from his mouth, leading doctors to suggest a convulsion-related cause. Inquest proceedings are underway, with the school’s students and teachers being interrogated.
Prince’s father, Sagar, who works as a sewer line worker, denied any history of medical conditions and emphasized that his son was healthy and fit. Sagar said his son had no previous health issues and was active, participating in football tournaments. He also expressed doubts about the school and police’s explanation, claiming that some students told him that Prince had been involved in a fight with a classmate before collapsing.
Prince was initially taken to Holy Angels Hospital and later referred to Fortis Hospital, where he was declared dead. Sagar was informed by the school around 9:45 am that his son had gotten hurt, and by the time he reached the hospital, Prince had already passed away.
Prince was the younger of two brothers, with his elder brother, Priyanshu, in class eight at another school. The family has also raised concerns about the absence of teachers and staff during the incident.
Police are continuing their investigation and will take appropriate legal action once all facts are established.
